Oram Upolu 11 Power/Sail Catamaran

Seagoing 11 metre CRUISER, ‘WilPower’, is a Bob Oram design, built as a motor sailer using ATL Composites balsa/epoxy "DUFLEX" sheets. Roof is epoxy/glass/foam.

Bob Oram began the build and continued supervision of his experienced son Sam, his friend Ben with final completion by Bevis Bryant.

Registered in January 2012 but only fully fitted out in early 2013.

This catamaran is essentially two narrow canoes with a spacious boat built above and between them weighing in total only 3 tonne.

The shape of the bows (cf Americas Cup Cats and Brisbane city cat) reflects the modern trend to wave piercing fine entry hulls and a full 10m waterline with low wetted area. This provides easily driven hulls with very little wash at any speed.

A perfect boat for picnics, family cruising, and Coastal Passages and is set up for easy single handed use, economical to motor/ sail up to 15kts in all usual boating conditions.

Designed to beach on sand and dry out. The 7.5m mast lowers forward easily (using the sail sheet winch) enabling passage under low overhead structures such as trees or bridges.

Moored at Bribie Island.
