Lamont reef is about 5 miles N.W. of Fitztroy Lagoon on the southern Great Barrier Reef. It has a little break on the South eastern edge that keen surfers use, knowing that if they have to put their feet down it will be on sharp coral, obviously they try to avoid that.

The 12mt Lamont is the smallest of the power cats that can comfortably cruise the western Pacific from Australia.

Fuel capacity tends to be the limiting factor even if carrying bladders or drums on deck.

It has quite bouyant hulls to carry a decent cruising payload.

Engines can be diesel up to 50hp (although 30hp will push it along very respectably for ever).

Outboards up to 100hp can be used for quicker passage times at an obvious increase in fuel consumption therefore range reduction.

The layout can be moved around to suit personal tastes although good sense should prevail.
